The NSW State Government funds Individual Disability Advocacy through the Disability Advocacy Futures Program (DAFP), ensuring people with disability can access the services and supports they need. The program includes statewide specialist advocacy services—covering legal matters, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, and culturally and linguistically diverse groups—alongside local, place-based advocacy. ACTION is funded under DAFP to deliver independent, individual advocacy in the northern Sydney region.
Here are some things an advocate can help you with -

iCare Advocacy Support
Action for People with Disability has been awarded the tender to provide independent advocacy support to Lifetime Care participants, helping individuals address disputes or complaints related to services and decisions around their access to supports. Our advocates will assist people to understand processes, communicate concerns, attend meetings, and resolve issues while ensuring their rights and preferences are respected. This service is impartial, free, and available to participants and family members at any time, offering emotional support and practical guidance without influencing Lifetime Care’s decision-making. By providing accessible, person-centered advocacy, we help participants navigate complex systems and maintain autonomy in decisions affecting their lives.
